Your mouse slows you down
We all agree that only retarded people copy/paste stuff using right clicks.
Well, starting your every day applications with your mouse makes you the same counter-productive dumbass. Whether it is a fancy dock bar, an old school application menu or a desktop icon, mouse slows you down.
Get your new superpower
Setupping system wide hotkeys to start most used applications is blazingly fast. After a few days you will feel like controlling your desktop environment with your thoughts.
For example, on the beginning of a day at work, it takes me no more than half of a second to startup the applications I need:
- Mailer
- Terminal
- Browser
- IDE
Obviously not possible on Windows where your desktop is frozen for 10 minutes just after your 15 minutes boot sequence…
Use it and abuse it
Do not stick to applications startup only. Generalize this principle, apply it for everything as much as you can (for example moving, switching, closing windows or virtual desktops) .
Leave your mouse alone, with your two hands on the keyboard, then you’ll save a lot of time.
